Description
2025 3-Coin Omega-Privy Pennies Lot #202
The year 2025 marked the final chapter for the United States penny, as the US Mint struck its last circulation examples of the nation’s longest-produced coin denomination. To commemorate this milestone, the Mint issued a special Omega-Privy penny set. This three-coin release honors more than two centuries of history while creating one of the smallest-mintage penny collections ever offered by the United States Mint. Today, 2025 3-Coin Omega-Privy Pennies Lot #202 is available.

The 2025 3-Coin Omega-Privy Penny Set carries the lowest mintages ever recorded for Lincoln pennies. For perspective, these coins were produced in quantities roughly 2,000 times lower than the famous 1909-S VDB Lincoln Penny and in far smaller numbers than the 1793 Chain Reverse penny, the first penny struck in United States history.
2025 3-Coin Omega-Privy Pennies Lot #202 is presented with individual slabs for all three coins. Included are two standard circulation strikes, one from the Philadelphia Mint with no mint mark and one from the Denver Mint bearing a “D” mint mark. The highlight of the set is a 24-karat gold penny struck at the Philadelphia Mint. As the first gold penny ever produced by the US Mint, this coin also ranks among the rarest non-proof gold issues in US Mint history. The total mintage is capped at just 232 sets, reflecting the 232-year lifespan of the US penny from its introduction in 1793 to its final issue in 2025.
Both copper pennies in this set come with an RD designation. RD stands for red and is an indication that these coins maintain at least 95% of the original red copper color. The Philadelphia penny is an MS65 specimen, while the Denver penny is an MS66 specimen. The 24-karat gold penny is an MS69 specimen and features CAC authentication of its grade. CAC verification provides added assurance for collectors purchasing graded coins. When CAC applies a green or gold sticker to coins already graded by PCGS or NGC, it confirms that the coin meets strict quality standards for its assigned grade. A green sticker indicates a solid or high-end example within its numerical grade.
The obverse design on each coin in the 2025 3-Coin Omega-Privy Penny Set features the classic right-profile portrait of President Abraham Lincoln. This familiar design is accompanied by an Omega privy mark, added specifically to signify the conclusion of penny production. The Omega symbol, drawn from the final letter of the Greek alphabet, was selected to represent the end of an era in American coinage.
On the reverse of the coins in the 2025 Omega-Privy Series, collectors will find the Union Shield design. This modern reverse was introduced in 2010 and replaced the Lincoln Memorial design that appeared on pennies from 1959 through 2008.
