Initiated in 1999 with the Zambia Elephant, the African Wildlife Series has become a beloved collection. Somalia has been releasing the African Elephant coins annually since 2004. The series includes both gold and silver coins, with silver primarily available in weights of 1 oz and larger, including a notable 1 kilo silver coin. Now, 2025 10 oz Somalia Silver Elephant Coins are available.

In the obverse design of the 2025 10 oz Silver Elephant Coin, the mint features the coat of arms of Somalia. The national seal for Somalia features a crowned shield with a background of horizontal lines and a single star at its center. The shield is supported by leopards with spears and palm fronds crossing beneath.

For the reverse side of 2025 Somalia Silver Elephants, you will find a new design for 2025. The design used this year captures a lone elephant as it marches toward the viewer in front-facing relief. Behind the elephant, common elements of the African savanna play out, such as the lone tree in the distance and the small patch of brush near the beast.

Adaptations for life in hot climates are evident in the African bush elephant’s physiology. Their large ears serve as radiators, helping to cool their massive bodies by releasing excess heat. They’re also excellent swimmers, using their trunks as snorkels when crossing deep waters.
