For the obverse of 1 oz Reverse Proof Gold Libertad Coins, the Mexican Mint features the national coat of arms. Mexico’s coat of arms is based on the 1524 Codex Mendoza design by the Aztecs, a symbol that instructed them where to build their capital city. The modern seal, with its golden eagle devouring a snake on a prickly pear cactus, is at the center of the design. Encircling this are 10 historic versions of the national seal, including the 1524 Codex Mendoza image at the top.
In the reverse design of Reverse Proof Mexican Gold Libertads, the mint showcases the image of Winged Victory. Her figure is shown here as it appears atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column. Based on the goddess of victory known as Nike, her winged figure stands with her right hand extended and her left clutching broken chains. The mountains of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl are depicted in the distant background.
Reverse Proof Mexican Gold Libertad Coins were introduced in 2018 with 1 oz and 1/2 oz weights available for collectors. The highest minted 1 oz coin, to date, was the 2022 coin with 1,300 specimens, while the lowest minted was the 2020 coin with just 250 specimens.
These 1 oz Reverse Proof Mexican Gold Libertad Coins are available with protective capsules. Reverse proofs have mirrored design elements with frosted background fields. In this listing, we offer the 1 oz Reverse Proof Gold Libertad with random years of issue. We cannot guarantee a specific year of issue in advance. All coins are chosen at random after your payment clears. If you buy more than one, it is possible to receive matching years of issue.
