Unique SilverTowne Rounds
When it comes to unique designs, SilverTowne offers rounds that feature some popular symbols from American history. These designs range from images of the Statue of Liberty to the Liberty Bell from Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Other unique designs include the Mighty Eagle with its imposing depiction of the American bald eagle and the Liberty Eagle, a stunning design that captures the bald eagle in flight.
Historic Designs on SilverTowne Rounds
One of the most popular design concepts from SilverTowne are silver rounds that replicate the primary images from some of the greatest coin designs in American history. These include, but are not limited to the following:
- Walking Liberty appeared on the half dollar from 1916 to 1947, designed by Adolph A. Weinman. The iconic image depicts Liberty in flowing robes, striding confidently toward the sunrise with an outstretched arm, symbolizing America’s forward-looking spirit. This beloved design was later revived for the American Silver Eagle bullion coin in 1986.
- Saint-Gaudens’ Liberty from the $20 Double Eagle is widely considered one of America’s most beautiful coins. Augustus Saint-Gaudens created a full-length Liberty figure in flowing classical robes, holding a torch and olive branch while striding forward against a sunburst background. President Theodore Roosevelt personally commissioned this design to elevate American coinage to art.
- Saint-Gaudens’ Liberty from the $10 Eagle features a classical profile of Liberty wearing a feathered Native American headdress. This unique fusion of classical and indigenous imagery was controversial but striking. The coin displays Liberty’s profile with “LIBERTY” inscribed on her headdress band, representing Saint-Gaudens’ interpretation of American identity.
- The indigenous figure from the Buffalo Nickel, designed by James Earle Fraser, portrays a composite profile of several Native American chiefs including Iron Tail (Sioux), Two Moons (Cheyenne), and Chief John Big Tree (Seneca). Fraser’s dignified portrait was paired with an American bison on the reverse, creating one of the most distinctly American coin designs.
- Liberty from the Morgan Silver Dollar was designed by George T. Morgan and features a classical profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton, symbolizing American agriculture. The model was reportedly Anna Willess Williams, a Philadelphia teacher. This abundant silver dollar became an iconic symbol of the American West and the nation’s prosperity.
- Bela Lyon Pratt’s indigenous portrait from the $5 Half Eagle and $2.50 Quarter Eagle presented a groundbreaking incuse (recessed) design instead of the traditional raised relief. The portrait depicts a dignified Native American chief wearing a feathered headdress. Unlike Saint-Gaudens’ interpretative approach, Pratt attempted a more ethnographically accurate representation, though still filtered through early 20th-century perspectives.
Stackable SilverTowne Rounds
The Prospector is one of SilverTowne’s oldest and most beloved designs. The Prospector has been captured in many different variations over the years, but it harkens back to the gold and silver rushes that drove American expansionism westward in the 19th century. The Prospector is often depicted either on his own or with his trusty pack mule. One of the most popular forms of the Prospector is the SilverTowne Stackable Round. These rounds come with the beloved Prospector design and an alternating raised-edge design on the obverse and reverse that makes it easier to stack rounds together
Divisible SilverTowne Rounds
A newer product launch from SilverTowne, divisible silver rounds make storing and dividing your silver even easier. The SilverTowne Divisible Silver Round is a 1 oz silver piece that breaks out into four individual 1/4 oz silver slices. Each individual slice has its own identifying hallmarks and the round is easily broken by hand into four pieces.
